When conducting research it is import to:

  • Know your client – If you are presenting a plan to a client you must be able to explain your ideas. Preparatory research will be needed to understand what the client is looking for and what plans they liked or disliked in the past.

  • Choose the optimal media– When choosing a reporter, beat or publication you must know which medium your target market prefers and what is most likely to run the story. This allows the message to be heard correctly by your audience and is not lost.

Public relations professionals are constantly researching products, services, competition, trending topics, and their audience.
