- PR Museum to Open in NYC
If you’re like us, you probably hate the stereotypes people put on PR professionals; we’ve been told all we do is push our clients on people and that we bother reporters. One woman is working to put all of that to an end.
With 20 years of industry artifacts, PR executive, Shelley Spector is putting together a Museum of Public Relations at the Baruch College in Manhattan. The highlight of the museum will be papers belonging to the ‘Father of Public Relations,’ Edward Bernays.
“We needed to tell the story of why public relations was meant to be practiced,” said Ms. Spector, “He wanted to seek a higher level status of it.”
