
- Don’t pre-judge anyone, millennials included.
- Everyone can teach you something and millennials have the latest and hottest currency – technology!
- Be open to learning from them.
- Be open to teaching them though maybe not the way WE learned.
- Don’t be swayed or put off by the casual appearance. They just think differently about professional attire.
- Be a good mentor, which might include discussing what professional attire is – in advance of hiring.
- If tattoos are a problem in your business, don’t rule the millennial out but ask them to cover the tattoos. That’s what I do.
- Make sure you share the ground rules and ask for them to accept before hiring. Be clear in your communication of what is expected.
- Millennials care about caring. Tell them what you care about and how you actively support it.
- If your culture needs an overhaul – millennials can help. Just ask what THEY think is important to a workplace environment.
